FAQs
What if my labs are "off"?
- Men with a PSA over 3 will need to see a urologist prior to receiving pellets.
- We can address and treat nonoptimal values, such as thyroid issues.
What if I've had breast cancer?
- Although new studies show decreased incidence and mortality of breast cancer with estradiol use, your oncologist will be a part of the decision making process.
What else will disqualify me from getting estradiol (estrogen)?
- A seizure disorder
- Migraine with aura
- Some bleeding disorders
- Undiagnosed/untreated medical conditions
As a man, why would I want a pellet when my insurance covers injections?
- Honestly, it's boils down to preference.
- Testosterone pellets, in men, are only inserted about every 5 months and have a more even absorption rate.
- The Biote method addresses many more causes of symptoms and not just "Low-T".
If I still have periods, will I qualify?
- Women benefit from testosterone pellets, regardless if they are perimenopausal or menopausal.
- We offer other, less permanent, forms of hormones as well: creams, patches, gels, pills, etc
How long have you been inserting pellets?
- Jennie, DNP first learned about and how to insert pellets during her clinicals back in 2010. She has been performing the procedure for two years and just recently joined with Biote for better patient results.
- Pellets were first introduced in Europe in the 1930s and were introduced in the US in 1939.

You will want to fill out the Health Assessment Questionnaire and schedule an appointment for your labs to be drawn (in clinic or at LabCorp). Your consultation and pellet insertion can be scheduled 10-14 days after your initial lab draw.

Not ready for pellets? We are happy to discuss all of your options to optimize your hormones and improve your well-being. Should you choose not to have pellets inserted, we willingly provide prescriptions and oversite for our Members.
Perimenopause women are usually candidates for testosterone pellets, but not estradiol pellets. For our pellet patients, we also prescribe other forms of estradiol and progesterone.
